This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit. My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy. - Marine Corps Rifleman's Creed.
No one gives a shit about D-II school mascots, who are the D-I mascots that don’t end in S?
Rush – No need to get so worked up. The D-I mascot list is here: http://dreadnaught.wordpress.com/2007/08/29/college-football-quiz-mascots-not-ending-with-s/
yojoe
Centenary Gentlemen
St. John Red Storm
UWGB Phoenix
UND Fighting Sioux
DES – None of these schools, except UND, which is Division II, have football teams. But you are correct they do not end in “s”. This may be good for a basketball quiz.
Stanford Cardinal
they arent the cardinals, the color “cardinal” is the mascot
and the cool christmas tree haha
Stanfordian -
The Cardinal of The Farm are listed in Quiz I –

And yes, your band is able to act aberrant and a tree is a great mascot, or whatever the tree is.
Thanks for the comment.

Syracuse Orangemen
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
NC State Wolfpack
Nevada Wolfpack
Illinois Fighting Illini
Marshall Thundering Herd
Tulane Green Wave
North Texas Mean Green
Navy Midshipmen
Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix (not sure if they play football)
Hofstra actually has 2 official mascots, neither of them ending in ‘s,’ (flying dutchmen) in case anyone was curious.
There are 11 that don’t end in ‘s’ OR contain a color. But there are a lot more than 11 that don’t end in ‘s.’
Alabama Crimson Tide
Nick – those teams are listed on Quiz 1, which lists the Div. I teams.
Elon Phoenix
If you are talking about basketball (and most of these are either Division 1 or 1-AA football teams as well…
1 North Carolina State Wolfpack

David,
What about North Texas Mean Green?
Thanks for the comment, but the mascot of UNT is the eagle, thus they are the UNT Eagles.
That is incorrect. The mascot might be an eagle but the nickname for North Texas is the Mean Green, not the Eagles. Please get your facts straight.
You forgot the Elon Phoenix
@Anonymous:
He didn’t forget Elon. They didn’t have a D-1 football team when this quiz was made. Nice catch though and it should be added to the 2011 version of this quiz.
@Jason:
The question is “which mascots?” not “which nicknames”.
